Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
(1756-1791)

Mozart was born in Salzburg, Austria. As widely known, he showed his genius talent from an early age: he played piano already at age 4 and by age 5, he composed. Mozart's father, who perhaps showed most passionate zeal for education in history, had his son perform in several courts in Europe once his son reached six years old.

These trips, which brought both burden and confidence to this young prodigy, dominated almost half of his life, thereby bringing him several accomplishments. He met Schobert in Paris, where he composed his violin sonata, and J.C.Bach in London, where he wrote his first symphony duringhis tour to Western Europe from 1763 to 1766. He composed these pieces when he was 8 years old. He later had three journeys to Italy, where he studied music theory and composition with Martini in Bologna. The trips to (the entire nation of) Italy also offered him opportunities to listen to outstanding Italian instrumental and vocal music. These experiences greatly affected his styles in almost all of his works, including instrumental music, symphonies, and operas. Mozart began to compose an opera even before reaching 20. In 1777, he composed works for social gatherings and masses while residing in Salzburg. For the next two years, he traveled to many places with his mother, including Mannheim and Paris, where he wrote his 31st symphony("Paris") and several other pieces. He continued his activities as a court musician in Salzburg after returning from his trips, but he was very discontented with his job there. He went to Munich 1780 to premiere his opera "Idomened", which had been commissioned by Court of Munich. This caused friction between him and the Court of Salzburg. He eventually left Salzburg permanently despite oppositions by his father the Court of Salzburg, and began his life in Vienna, where he spent the reminder of his life.

By now, he escaped from a stifling atmosphere in Salzburg and enjoyed his years in Vienna. In addition to composing masterpieces, he earned a living by performing piano and giving lessons. The opera " Die Entfuhrung aus dem Serail" and the "Symphony No.35, K 385 'Haffner'" were written during his stay in Vienna, in 1782. In that same year, he married Constanze Weber, the younger sister of Aloysia Weber(his first love who left a series of anecdotes for her previous relationships with Mozart).

Mozart continued to show advancement in his works during his years in Vienna, but the public began to stand apart from him and even faced criticism and was financially distressed. To make matters worse, his fater did. Vevertheless, he composed operas "Le Mozze di Figaro)1786) and "Don Giovanni" (1787), in addition to the last three major symphonies(nos. 39-41.) His opera buffa "Cosia Fan Tutte" and superb singspiel "Die Zauberflote" enjoyed enormous successes in the premieres. However, His illness worsened and died on Decomber 5, 1791, at the young age of 35, without completing his great "Requiem:, in Vienna.
